Ellia Volf

An Athlete Spotlight By Hannah Koepp

Senior Ellia Volf is a very busy student. Not only is she involved in the Falcon Ambassadors program, National Honors Society, and Campus Ministry Team, but she plays a sport every single season. Volf is part of the cross country, soccer, and track teams at IWA.
Right now the fall is the end of cross country season. It is Ellia’s first time running cross country, but she has loved how involved it has allowed her to be. Even though it has been a short time for Volf as a part of the cross country team, she has loved it.
“I like playing a sport at the beginning of the year because all sports make me feel more productive. If I know I have practice I won’t push everything off until the last minute,” Volf said.
Sports, as Ellia said, can be very motivating. As well as helping Volf be productive, sports provide a very important social aspect of high school life. Being a part of a new sport this year has given Volf the chance to be around a whole new group of people in a brand new atmosphere. After a long day of school, it can be helpful to any student to be able to let off some steam with some friends.
“I really like the social elements of cross country. Most of the people I am with all day are just faces I see at school. Being on a new team with new teammates lets me make new friends and meet new faces,” Volf said.
In this final week of October as cross country wraps up, soccer begins. The soccer team will start practicing in the upcoming weeks, and Ellia can’t wait. Soccer has always been her favorite sport. She has been playing it forever and knows the most about it out of all three of her sports.
“I’ve been playing soccer forever and I can’t wait for it to start this year. It’s my family sport,” Volf said.
In her senior year, you can find Ellia Volf on the cross country course, soccer field, or the track.
